TYKS Foundation travel grants for medicine and health sciences
The TYKS Foundation (the Education and Research Foundation of Turku University Hospital) is a non-profit foundation whose mission is to promote and support research activities in clinical medicine and in university-level nursing and health sciences, as well as the maintenance of such activities, at Turku University Hospital and within its catchment area. The research to be supported must meet the criteria set by the foundation's mission, in particular as regards the site where the research is carried out.
A TYKS Foundation grant may be awarded if the applicant
1) has not received a grant from the TYKS Foundation in the previous year,
2) has not received Varha VTR research funding (state research funding) during the current year, and provided that
3) the applicant has a Finnish personal identity code as well as a Finnish bank account and online banking credentials. The grant is paid into the applicant's own bank account.
The TYKS Foundation mainly supports doctoral researchers in the early stages of their work. The foundation also supports funding applications from more senior researchers.
The TYKS Foundation awards funding in order to make research work possible. Funding is not awarded for professional training or for trips as such. For a travel grant, it is an advantage if the applicant gives a presentation or carries out other research-related activity during the trip. A congress grant requires an accepted congress abstract, which may be submitted to the foundation even after the application deadline has passed. Travel grants must be applied for before the trip takes place.
Reporting on the completed research and on the use of the grant is required in the foundation's grant system by the end of the following year.
